Golf at Belek
Golf at Belek
There are very few places in the world like Belek. As well, as having the sea, the sun, a forest, and the Taurus Mountains as a backdrop, it is a golfers paradise and home to six international class golf courses – with six more courses being built in the next couple of years. The region has been selected as a “Tourism Center” by the Turkish government so they give a lot of support to the investors and the municipalities in this region. This is very important in Turkey because of the low budgets of the municipalities which are not enough for constructing the necessary streets, drainage, sewage, waste water treatment, fresh water supply etc. In this region most of these necessities are funded by the help of the government.

The result of this is tremendous support to tourism investors; more than 40 five-star hotels and six international golf courses are constructed on this beautiful coast.

Belek’s position on the Turkish Riviera - it is only 23 km from Antalya airport- also makes it an excellent place to be based to explore many of the sights and experiences outlined in our Guide. In particular, Belek is very close to a number of ancient cities such as Perge, Selge and Aspendos and Antalya City itself. You can arrange tours either from your hotels or from the local town which can also take you to Side, Alanya, Pamukkale or Cappadocia.. It has a less famous neighbouring town called Kadriye, which is very similar to Belek. Both towns have their share of hotel complexes and golf courses and each also has a quaint market town centre with bars, restaurants and a host of shops selling the usual array of textiles, jewellery and Turkish carpets and rugs.

In the early 1990’s several cooperatives started villa constructions for their members in Belek and Kadriye. They planned well managed, secure and comfortable accommodation with several amenities for their members but after the economical crises in Turkey, some of the property owners were forced to sell their investments. This is a great chance for new comers since the prices are still relatively low (though like the rest of the region prices are shooting up fast!) We strongly advise you to view some of these properties while the prices are so low.
